Description:

The Champions 3D is a World Cup 2010 soccer game with many modern teams (with accurate rosters) to choose between. Controls are simple, but gameplay can be challenging. You get whatever player is closest to the ball, and you can direct his running and command him to pass or shoot. Three computer controlled allies run around basically waiting to be passed to (they never shoot on their own) and then automatically controlled.

There are no offside calls or out of bounds balls; the ball bounces off of the side of the field if a shot goes wild. In the beginning, stealing the ball is as easy as walking next to an enemy player; as you go on, it gets harder and harder: toward the end, you have to come at the ball holder from a nearly 90 degree angle, step right in front of him as he's running forward, and get lucky. Similarly, in the early rounds of The Champions 3D the enemy goalie is incompetent and you can often make shots from half-court; in the later rounds, you have to juke and jive and fake him out in order to get a goal.

All told, The Champions 3D has a good learning curve, easy controls, but a mighty challenge if you actually stick with it long enough to get the final victory. The only thing that is missing is a way to voluntarily change which team member you're controlling. ProTip: You can skip the long goal replays by pressing X in the middle of them.
